 SYNTHETIC DRUGS

The local Prescription Drug Task Force, along with the Local Anti-Drug Coalition, law enforcement, and several community organizations are taking action against the sale and use of synthetic drugs in Huntington County. These drugs are not regulated by the FDA and are incredibly dangerous. Please see the letter and flyer below regarding this issue and see what you can do to join the cause.

Safe Place

Safe Place is a national program that was established in Louisville, Kentucky in 1983 by a residential and counseling agency for teenagers. The purpose of Safe Place is to provide immediate assistance to children and teens who are in crisis situations, to defuse the crisis situation, and to provide relief and services to minimize the possibility that this or another crisis situation will arise again in the future for the particular youth or family. National Safe Place Week will take place on March 18-22, 2013. In Huntington County, the Safe Place program was able to provide assistance for 82 youth in 2012. Each year, the number of youth in need of emergency assistance for a crisis situation rises. The Safe Place Program is an important tool for assisting youth in the areas of parent education, suicide prevention protocol, mediation, Host Home arrangements, and many more. The YSB staff would like to give a huge thank-you to all of the businesses and locations that have participated in the Safe Place program since its debut in Huntington County in 1990. Your contribution to the community is appreciated. On Wednesday, March 20, there will be a Suicide Prevention Training open to community members in honor of National Safe Place week. If you would like to attend, please contact our office to RSVP.

All services are provided without regard to race, age, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin, ancestry, or status as veteran.
